April 22, 2023 Labor and Birth Prep Workshop

$50.00

This one-day, small group course is held on Saturday, April 22, 9am-4pm at my home in Shreveport. The class is designed for the pregnant woman and her support person. Moms are strongly encouraged to attend with her partner or other labor support person. Proper support is essential in labor (and parenthood) so this class is also geared toward helping your partner learn what to expect and how to best support you during labor and birth.

Whether you are planning an unmedicated birth, want an epidural, are considering a c-section, or haven’t decided; this class is for you. No matter your birth plan, this is a monumental event that you will never forget and it is important you know what to expect, are prepared to make decisions, and that you feel supported.

While you are welcome to take this class at any point during pregnancy, it is recommended to take this class at least 2 months before your due date to allow time to process new information, practice comfort measures, ask your provider questions, do your own research, and to write a birth plan. The goal is to empower moms to take the CEO role in her prenatal care, labor, and birth. This course will teach you about normal physiological birth and what to expect physically and emotionally. We will give you the information you need to make informed decisions and through evidence-based education, in turn reducing your fears about birth.

The Saturday workshop also includes a virtual follow-up session about two weeks after your workshop. This optional follow-up session will be up to 1 hour long taking place via Google Meet. Participants are encouraged to ask the questions you wished you’d asked during class or discuss topics that have come up in your prenatal appointments since class, etc. Even if you do not have questions you are encouraged to join and listen in.
